Korea tasted bitterness in its first match at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia.

The Korean national team, led by coach Park Yoon-jung, lost 0-1 to Nigeria in the first match of Group D held at the Metropolitano de Techo Stadium in Bogota, Colombia on the 2nd (Korean time).

South Korea, competing in Group D with Nigeria, Germany and Venezuela, failed to earn a point in their first match of the tournament.

Korea, which suffered a defeat from the start, must aim to advance to the group stage by playing against Venezuela on the 5th and Germany on the 8th.

This competition, in which 24 countries participate, is divided into six groups of four teams each, and after the group stage, the top four countries from each group, including the top two teams and the top three third-place teams from each group, advance to the round of 16 to compete for the championship.

Korea finished fourth in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-20 Asian Cup held in March of this year, earning a spot in the finals of the tournament, which is given to the top four countries.

Coach Park Yoon-jung, 35, who led this process, placed players who were playing together at Widuk University, such as ace Jeon Yu-kyung, Bae Ye-bin who also played in an A match, and key midfielder Kim Shin-ji, in the forward and midfield to maximize the offensive power.

For both Korea and Nigeria, the first half was a futile battle.

They took three shots in a row, but failed to make a valid shot.

While Korea was unable to find an attacking opportunity in the 토토 second half, Nigeria went on the offensive, making 11 shots in the second half alone.

In the 41st minute of the second half, a 'lucky goal' also came. Florish Saberstein saw his teammate rushing towards the opposite goal from the right flank and crossed with his right foot, which went straight into the goal net.

The cross, which flew in a trajectory that goalkeeper Woo Seo-bin could not stop, hit the upper corner of the opposite goal accurately, leading to the winning goal.

Korea hung its head without recording a single effective shot that day.

Coach Park, who suffered a crushing defeat from the first game, said in an interview with the broadcaster after the game, "We prepared so hard for this game, so it's a shame that we didn't show up (on the field). There are two preliminary games left, and we will try to play the way we want to play."
